Hi everyone,
just to let you know, Matt and his partner have had a baby boy last week, 7lb 12 oz, healthy and happy, they are calling him Idris - massive strong welsh name!!
All are well and happy, Matt asked me to pass on the good news to you all and said he will see us all in 2 weeks time.
I will be bringing in a card for him next week and thought it would be nice if we all signed it for the new family unit!!
Welcome to the World Idris may your path be light and joyful and you shine your light brightly!

Really Exciting . . . Val and Deb have an exhibition.

We have all been marked for the colours module - how exhausting. It was a frenzy of painting: doors; trees; animals; relatives; Sirens; landscapes; festivals and Christmas trees through windows. We all wondered how could painting be so tiring? Then an amazing thing happened for two of the group. . .

From 16 - 29 March Deb Jones and Val Johnson will be exhibiting Beasts & Trees at the Bear Steps Gallery, Shrewsbury.

This is so exciting, the rest of us are all watching carefully to see what we can learn. Well done both in grabbing a fab opportunity!

A painting in Progress

Lovely day today with the 'Painters Anonymous' group tutorials helping lots. It's such hard work painting all day but very rewarding even if I come away having learned one thing then it's worth it!

Deadline extended and plans for 28 February

New Deadline
Extended deadline for the blessed Colours Project is 31 Jan, that's Thursday 31 January.

A whole week of no college, how will we manage?
No college on 27 and 28 February as Matt and Wendy are going on a jolly! So because we can't do without our weekly dose of Art (say this in Pip's voice), we will all convene at a secret location (Dea's house) on Thursday 28 February at 10am. If we can get a person to pose it would be good so if anyone knows a model please ask them. Remember no drinking, eating, trip hazards or being silly...
Hey this is Pipmonkey here is something I painted at school... http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h160/pipmonkey/medusa-1.jpg

If you want to see more of my things I have an album at www.photobucket.com if you search for the user Pipmonkey you should find my stuff... Cartoons and naked women mostly...

Art with sticks! Alright!!

Introducing The Ladies and Pip - Painting for Change

In September 2007 the journey began

Beginning is probably not a great description; for many it was more than this, going back to college was re-starting a journey from years before.

Journey sounds so benign; for most of us it was a nerve-wracking dive into an environment so far removed from 'normal life' that it had us nail-biting and squirming with excitement, fear and anticipation !

Once-upon-a-time we were: mums; bar-tenders; carers; counsellors; postal workers; cleaners; designers; nurses; therapists; builders; students; volunteers. . .

One academic term and one set of scary presentations later we are not only all of the above, but also an amalgam, a bonded group of supportive multi-skilled, re-discovered artists. We have remembered why we love painting, why we started this course and we are celebrating.

Here is our showcase, the vehicle to share our thoughts and what we are learning.
